Porting

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

A friend has suggested that getting the head on my C ported and polished would lead to better things in the performance stakes. Is this true and if so where can it be done OR is he talking a load of s****?

Cheers in Advance

Depends what engine you have. Wouldn't bother on a VR6 or 16V unless you plan on cams/exhausts/chips etc in the future. It will make a difference on the G60 though as it has quite a restrictive head.

definitely do it on a 16v, 1.8's can gain anything from 10-20bhp from a well flowed head, standard 1.8 cams are fine for a good power hike at the top end too, I know, I've done it. :-)

2.0 16v's probably need a re-map to get the best fuelling for head work.

It does cost though, anything up to a grand for a complete re-build and quality flowing.

I bought my VR6 with a rebuilt engine that was polished and it is a lot quicker than my last VR6. Makes it run a lot smoother as well.
