Arcing

Recommended Posts

When my vr6 is started from cold one of the ht leads arc's against the block, it does this until it is warm then runs fine.

While warming up the tickover is lumpy because of this, or if you drive while cold.

I assume the leads are passed there sell by date and need replacing, is this the case.

i would say so. the ht leads are supposed to be insulated so are the charge goes straight to the plugs. i am sure this would help your problem. also i would change the plugs aswell as the one thats been arcing is prob damaged.

took my car to a garage, in the process they took the ht leads out. The bloke did say they had a job on getting the leads off (i forgot to leave them the tool ). A couple of weeks later i came to take the leads off, i noticed one that had split at the base, just above where the metal part starts. It looks like they had broken it and tried glue it back together, I say its looks as though it's being glued cos there looks like theres a bit of dried glue in the split.

My question is, would this make the plug stop doing its job properly? The split doesnt go all the way round nor does it leave anything exposed.
