Newbie needs your advice

Recommended Posts

Alright guys. So, i just purchased my first VR6. Iv only had it couple of couple days. I f*cking love it. Im start to think about some sensible power upgrades to get me started but im pretty green round the gills when it comes to knowing what i can do with it. Where would you guys advise i start . i reckon initially i can afford about £400-£500 to start with. Any sound advice would be greatly appreciated.

There really aren't any good instant power gains for a VR6 really unless you're willing to spend a fair bit more :(

Most popular mod for a VR6 though, if you don't already have it, and want to improve the already superb soundtrack is a good quality induction kit.. you wouldn't believe how good it sounds! :)

With £500 i'd consider a decent quality exhaust (supersprint, magnex) and a BMC air filter! :)

yeah i would say a good service and an exhaust, then start saving for a supercharger or turbo....apparently there is a group buy on supercharger kits on the vr6oc i think?? so if you could find another £1000 you could get one of those....

Well, £500 is whats left in the pot now :( . Im quite happy to wait a while and save the penny's. What induction would you recommend? What sort of £££ am i looking at. Is this something i can fit myself ( well i say myself; what i mean is iv got a good mate who is a experience corrado mechanic :) ) or should i got to a Vdub specialist.

Cheers

Ok. Iv got a neglected 1990 16v 1.8 that i need to sell. That could well top the pot up nicely.

hi mate, i have done the k&n/BMC filters. so save the £160 that a BMC would cost you, put it towards a charger. you wont regret it  you can get them 2nd hand for about £1500

if ya give me about a week, i may be getting a second hand magnex for a good price, about £150. but if you want it?? i will give the guy your details. where abouts are ya??
