Ad2408 0 Posted January 1, 2007 Hi Got a couple of questions about the standard speaker setup on a 1989 valver..... - The previous owner had hacked about with the wiring to fit the stereo and as a result only the front speakers are working. So today took the stereo out and checked (and corrected some of the wiring  ) plugged the stereo back in expecting it to work but...... still not working. Any ideas why not?? - Where are the speaker wires routed to the rear speakers? - How do you remove the rear speakers? Thanks in advance Adam
chrishill 0 Posted January 1, 2007 to get the rear speakers out you need to remove the parcel shelf supports that hold them. Its a fiddly job getting them back in and lined up properly, get it wrong and the parcel shelf wont fit snug any more and will rattle about which is annoying! best bet, if you don't want to use them any more, is to just unplug them. If you're planning on replacing them with 'same size' after market ones I really wouldn't bother - they're too small to give good sound. Go for some 6x9's and a stealth-shelf to keep things looking tidy. Question about your speaker setup - do you have door speakers? The very early valvers didn't have them originally, just dash and rears, so if there's some there the last owner might have put after market ones in the doors and used the wires off the rears to power them... just a thought! Ad2408 0 Posted January 1, 2007 OK all sorted thanks for your input chrishill, the previous owner had bodged the wiring and rather than unclipping the wires for the rear speakers (presume he had a parcel shelf setup- fitted) had cut the wiring further down. Reconnected these now all sorted! Thanks Ad
