johnxl1s 0 Posted January 15, 2007 My second key/remote fob is not operating, Golf Mark 4 2000 diesal .can the battery be tested, is there a time limit on replaceing the battery, or what would the forum advise to get this operating. thanks john. young dub 0 Posted January 15, 2007 If it has a red LED on the key and its not flashing, your battery is probably dead. You can replace it easily enough, but you may have to program the key into the alarm again, but that shouldnt be a problem as its your second key. It shouldnt loose programming for the immobiliser so should be an easy fix. If this doesnt work, most likely you will need another key, and then replace the blade from your second key to your new second key. Then you will have to get the new key programmed into the alarm and the immobiliser. This is where it may get costly lol. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Stan 24v 0 Posted January 16, 2007 They do lose their programmes, and can be reprogrammed. Look in the owners manual, or do a search on google for it. It involves placing the master key in the ignition and the second in the door iirc. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
