Sainsbury's Car Insurance

Recommended Posts

Spent most of the morning 'phoning around all the usual suspects for a quote on my new VR6 today (A. Flux, Brentacre, Lancaster, HIC etc. etc.)

All coming in way over £400

Quick call to Sainsbury's and.....

£359.94 Fully Comp. with Wife as named driver, £350xs, legal cover, protected NCB (7 yrs) and agreed valuation!

Nearly dropped the flippin' phone!

Got to be worth a try - Number's 0800 032 0315

Hope this helps

Cheers

Jof

PS - thats with 6 points too - sp30 & sp60

I've just got my renewal through with Admiral - that's £358 which includes Scrick, Magnex and lowered suspension which I thought was good (I'm 34)

Did a quote with Sainsburys online via Confused. I never know where I stand using Confused. Confused often does not recognise my No plate so instead I gave full car details. Sainsburys was second cheapest and it said the vehicle details could be wrong so please check. Phoned them, asked to check the vehicle, she asked for my reg No, then quoted me my insurance an additional 20 quid; she said it was because I'd given her the reg. I asked what the car was on the system before I gave the reg - she would not say.

Got very angry, ended the call, checked online and it definately does say a Corrado 16v 1984cc.

Now unsure if I should accept the online quote, or instead go for the cheapest Confused quote with someone like Swift, which was ALL online - which I wanted to avoid due to wanting to alter details at a later date.

Anyone know if Sainsburys Bank Car Insurance is any good?

Anyone tried HIC? Try and speak to MartinB who posts on here.. I got a great quote for my modded 2.0 16v - I find the mainstream companies a nightmare to deal with when it comes to modifications!

thats a very good point, remember that corrados are quite a specialist car now so in my opinion it is often worth paying a little more to have the peace of mind that the car is covered properly. The cheapest is not always the best, i could easily get my car insured for about £150 per year but i happily pay almost twice that cos i know that it has agreed value so i will be paid what its worth in a claim not the insurers "book price" which is usually feck all, my mods are covered like for like and i get the option to keep the car in if i want after a claim.

also you dont have to put up with people at mainstream comanies asking stoopid questions like is it diesel? it a saloon or estate?

I went through moneysupermarket.com and got a quote for Quinn Direct (an Irish company). Much cheaper than anyone else (and you get the luck of the Irish for free). Not as good as my brother's house insurance - he gets it through the Church of England. He's not a member of the God Squad - total opposite in fact, but it was the cheapest. Power of God for free with that policy. Anybody burgles his house and they'll be in trouble with the big man upstairs. Don't think they do car insurance though.
