Slimg60 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Check the headlight loom for any signs of wear, if the main beam wire is shorting to earth it will blow the fuse. Also the headlight connector. Do you have an uprated headlight loom?

umonkeyz 0 Posted November 8, 2010 resurected thread. i too have just fitted new main beam h3 bulbs, (after messing about with trying to fit hid xenons all day- and failing due to naff wiring). after fitting my battery was randomly dead, i managed to charge it up, but now when i tried my new main beam bulb it went dead, no battery at all. after 5 mins the interior light came on but not enough power to turn over. any ideas what could cause the short? would any fuses be affected.? would a short discahrge the battery?? im a bit rubbish with electrics.. thanks sam
leeeeshad 0 Posted November 8, 2010 would a short discahrge the battery?? Yes, but I would expect it to blow a fuse or melt some wires 1st, as you were trying to fir HIDs then I'd look at every wire you touched checking for damage.
umonkeyz 0 Posted November 9, 2010 thanks ill check the wires properly, i had a quick look at the wires with the headlights in place, couldnt see or smell any burnt wire, ill take the lights out for a proper check. any idea which fuse the main beam is connected to? its a bit worrying its shorted the battery out twice now, i guess its gonna muller the battery life pretty baddly too. joy. if theres no wires obviously melted/broken and the fuses are in tack ill have to tkae it to an auto electrician/local specialist... yey corrados.. how much are 2004 plate focus's again? lol
