KipVR 1 Posted February 27, 2007 I'm parking on the street these days now I've managed to buy a house at last  , unfortunately not one with a garage :x Unfortunately I had to sell my wife's car to afford the house!!! So she's now driving mine!! The trouble and strife doesen't understand caring about my wheels as much as I do  and I'm hoping to escape the inevitable scraped rims by fitting wider tyres but do 215's fit? My arches aern't modified but the car isn't slammed either....
andy_vw 0 Posted February 27, 2007 Get some 205's with rim protectors ;)
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted February 27, 2007 215s will rub when you bottom out the suspension (so big dip in the road at speed, for example) and won't really offer much protection on the rim - they'll still get scuffed! Ran 215s on my C for about a year. Did wear a bit away in my drivers side rear wheel arch though... Rest were fine!
Furkz 0 Posted February 27, 2007 would 205/45 be a better option for this maybe something like a toyo with big rim protection!
swfblade 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Im running 215/40/17's on my VR. Dropped a reasonable amount on my Koni Coilovers. Only notice slight rubbing if I'm cornering hard with passengers, otherwise its fine! Had em on for about 3 or 4 months. edit: they are Toyo Proxes T1-R's
Leavon 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Same here, 215/40/17, Toyo T1-R's, dropped 40 mm, only ever rubs on full lock, ie. parking. Though I don't allow more than 1 passenger in the back.
too hot 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Yeah I just managed to source a new set of rims(don`t ask--yet  ) I`m going for the Newish Yokohama Prada`s £260 for a set of 4 delivered in 215/40/17. Had them on a G60(in that size) years ago and had no real problems, slight rub on full lock but nothing dramatic. 8) Oh yeah the car was lowered about 40mm. :)
