engine just wont start

Recommended Posts

i have a 1.8 corrado , on the way back from buying the car the water pump went. today i have replaced the water pump and cam belt , but when turning over it will not start. I have traced it down the a spark going to the coil but nothing coming out of it, due to this i now have replaced the coil but its still not starting. advice and help please

As VR6 says it must be either the leads or plugs.

Try pulling a plug out, turning it over and see if you have a spark..

Yeah I might know theres an ignition amplifier up by the ecu,it could be that.

Just borrow one and try it,you get them on audis etc

It looks like a black wafer with a white metal back plate

Hi

Pull the fuel pump relay out and clean the contacts. Then push it back in. When you turn the ignition on you should hear the fuel pump prime.

The earths are pretty critical on the early valvers and you may well have disturbed one with the water pump work.

As has been mentioned previously the fuel pump should run then stop once the system have been pressurised with the key in the run position and the engine off.
