red DDI filter problem

Recommended Posts

Fit my DDI stuff the other day, firstly can I say it looks 8) very happy.

Only issue I do now have is the Red digital bit. I've seen all the pics of the guys who have this and its got red digits on a black background. Well mine is Red digits on a slightly darker red background! What have I done wrong?!? :(

hi mate,

did you take ofF the factory film on the LCD??? you need to take that off, and replace it with the LCD film provided with the kit.

yes i did that. Just to reiterate, I think I followed the instructions correctly:

Removed old filter, then order of bits:

new filter,

Glass,

Red filters,

white filter,

white plastic bit.

yeah im pretty sure I did, as the other way around it'd just be dark red numbers on a light red background, surely, or am i missing the point?

If you reverse the standard polarizing film (black numbers on a transparent back ground) you'll get a black background with transparent no.s that when illuminated with for example a red LED the numbers will be red on a black background.

As visible in the (poor quality) pics below:-

it's the right way round, as the numbers are brighter than the background, which is the reverse of of the OEM setup.

did you use both the red filters?

It looks correct, just too bright

They are the right way round, just brighter :-/

Have no idea mate, if you used all the filters etc, mine went quite a bit darker with the second filter fitted

Looks to me like there's no polarizing film on the LCD.

nah, don't think thats the problem, the polarisation looks right, just the brightness isn't

trust me, there is a very very thin film on the other side of the sticky side, i had to use a scalpel to find it.
