Lippy 0 Posted March 16, 2007 Hey can anyone advise on the best way to repair this wear and tear on the drivers side back bolster? Cheers Andrew
herisites 0 Posted March 16, 2007 I would imagine that leather dye stuff would do the trick although it might work out quite expensive to patch just that bit up. But you could always use it on the whole lot and get them looking brand new again. Karl (KADVR6) is using it on some recaros he got for his vr, they are black and he's dying them blood red. He tested the stuff on a sample piece of leather and put it through hell and aparently it didnt come off or fade etc. I think its around £60 for the kit. EDIT: HERE is a link to the site Karl got the stuff from.
coolrado 0 Posted March 16, 2007 not too sure if you can actually repair the shiny top layer of the leather, but you could dye the worn section so its less obvious and then treat the leather so its protected better.
Lippy 0 Posted March 16, 2007 to be honest, it doesn't really matter that much, its not obvious when looking in - unlike the rado thigh bolster and the rest of the leather is in top nick, could do with feeding etc but otherwise no other problems. I just wanted to see if there were options available, keep em coming! Cheers guys, Andrew
Kick Up The Rs 0 Posted March 16, 2007 Try a Gliptone Scuffmaster repair kit See:http://www.liquidleather.com/
fla 9 Posted March 16, 2007 If you've really got some time, take the cover off, remove the worn part and stitch in a new piece. I've got some black leather pieces if you need them.
L100PY_H 0 Posted March 16, 2007 Alternatively...pop into Clarks (seriously) and purchase some 'ShuMagic' for £2.50 over the counter. I did this to my leather and it re-coloured it a treat, leave to soak in for a few mins, buff it off to restore shine and remove excess, it also feeds and nourishes the leather and won't come off on your clothes or with general cleaning. Oh...and i've worked in Clarks for 10 years so can vouch for the product!(please don't call me sad!)
Jay2 0 Posted March 19, 2007 Yep, was advised by a specialist that shoe stuff is just as good as the more expensice and exotic stuff from car places.
Jim Bowen 1 Posted March 29, 2007 i dread this happening to mine, they are almost like new at the mo, i hoping reagular treatment with gliptone conditioner will stop it. not sure?
