Rev counter playing up when engine cold

Morning all got a small problem which started last weekend, my rev counter seems to stick when the engine is cold (blip the throttle nothing happens drive up the road bring the revs higher it works back off the throttle and the needle stops were it is).

 

When the engine is up to temperture it works fine not sticking.

 

Any ideas ?

which engine? which set of clocks? (twin LCD or single LCD and mechanical milage counter)
