G60Jet 1 Posted February 11, 2003 If you have a Bentley Manual they are all in there.
seizure 0 Posted February 11, 2003 I'm in the UK, and don't have a Bentley manual. Already been on Vortex to get em from there, but they said the UK and US 'box specs differ. Sorry should have mentioned this earlier; I need the UK 02A gearbox ratio specs. Cheers
G60Jet 1 Posted February 11, 2003 02A is the type of box the letters after it explain the ratios hence CBA AMA even uk G60 boxes are different from year to year from what i've read
Banana Man 0 Posted February 11, 2003 G60Jet is right the gearbox ratio's do differ from year to year the gear ratio's for the ATA gearbox which runs from 5/89>7/90 are as follows Ratios final drive 70:19 = 3.684 1st gear 34:9 = 3.778 2nd gear 40:19 = 2.105 3rd gear 39:29 = 1.345 4th gear 34:35 = 0.971 5th gear 35:44 = 0.795 reverse gear 19:9, 36:20 = 3.800 And the gear ratios for the AYL gearbox 8/90> are: Ratios final drive 70:19 = 3.684 1st gear 34:9 = 3.778 2nd gear 36:17 = 2.118 3rd gear 40:28 = 1.429 4th gear 35:34 = 1.029 5th gear 36:43 = 0.837 reverse gear 19:9, 36:20 = 3.800 And they are the same box type the 02A

VW did "Tweak" the ratios, that's why I need a complete list of ALL 02A boxes. It would also be helpful for future reference should I decide to raid the scrap yard for another £25 'box. There's not many boxes you get in this day and age for £25  [subtle undertones implied]

seizure 0 Posted February 13, 2003 Cheers G60ing. You to have done well. Not sure what you meant about not following my post. I have two 02A cable change gearboxes. Their codes are: CBA and AMA. The CBA is out of a Corrado G60 and the AMA is from a Passat GT. What I am after is the ratios for those particular boxes, but I am also interested in the ratios for other 02A 'boxes so I can search out the ones with favourable ratios and use them in future "projects". But bear in mind I'm in the UK, so I'm guessing the gearboxes will be different to those in the US, cos of our different driving environments and driver requirements. G60Jet 1 Posted February 13, 2003 Why bother, just get a good 02A box and get if rebuilt with the ratios you want and get a 6th gear dropped in too!!
