Slimg60 0 Posted April 5, 2007 My car wouldn't start on monday. Was turning over but not firing. I then noticed the fuel pump wasn't "buzzing" when the key was turned. I then checked the fuse, ok. Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted April 5, 2007 Fuel pump relay will only trigger if it gets its switched earth from the ECU. The relay could be foobar'd, or just its earth pin. Or yes, ignitiion switch. Immobilisers don't need to touch the fuel pump to be Cat 2, so it shouldn't be that. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Just means you have an alarm with a battery-backed-up siren, internal, bonnet and boot sensors. Still shouldn't touch the fuel pump. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Yandards 0 Posted April 5, 2007 Sounds like another high quality alarm install then. My guess would be that the alarm fitter has cut the power supply for the fuel pump and spliced the immob cable inbetween to enable switching. You could always try checking those points to see if it is still connected. If not just re-splice the fuel pump power lead to bypass that part of the immob. Slimg60 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Cheers for the replies everyone, sorted it this morning, found there was no earth on the fuel pump relay as the ECU plug had come loose. :shock: Now gettng a new alarm fitted as I'm not happy with the state of the wiring for the other.
