under bonnet "foam"

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, does anyone know where i can get a replacement for the "foam" on the underside of the bonnet. The honeycomb type stuff. The only place i can seem to find is the dealers...and they want £81 for it which is a bit steep!!!.Is there anywhere that sells it cheaper or can i get a generic type of stuff and just cut it to shape and glue it on.I wanted to get something close to the original so i can keep the car looking original if possible.I assume its just insulating/sound deadening type stuff.Cheers guys.

Yeah!

I´m exactly after some of these too! :)

Of course that it need to be shaped, so that can look like original.

Thanks!

P.S. - This is so cheap! I wonder if they ship overseas...

You can just remove it (seen a fair few Corrado's with it all removed) but it does provide effective sound deadening - you will probably notice the noises from the engine bay a lot more than you did with it fitted.

And prepare to have a frustrating time getting it off.. the stuff used to bond it on is an absolute swine to remove. It has been discussed a bit though about how to clean it off so worth having a look round on the search :)

I was talking to a car detailer yesterday and i mentioned the under bonnet foam on carrado's being expensive or not available and he said he swears by this stuff http://www.noisekiller.co.uk he's had it on his car over three years and looks as good now as it did when it was new,its self adhesive with no coming off problems. Worth looking into if your after some under bonnet soundproofing.

Could be worth getting some more. I went to outdoorbits.com (might be .co.uk) beforehand, but it didn't stick as well as I'd have liked - possibly because the old muck was such a nightmare to remove!

Cheers for the link, will have to get some more at some point :)
