Newbie. Runnign and temperature problem/question

Hi all

 

Just bought a 91 1.8 16v today, driving home i notice a few problems.

 

-temp sits at 90ish in town (like my golf) and seems ok. Ran up motorway and the temp dropped off the meter (oil still 90-100), got off motorway and temp came back up. is this normal? (golf never budges off 90 no matter where i drive)

 

-high idle- my ide rises when the above happens.

 

-rough / jerky revving, while cruising around the revs jerk / search around between 3-4k revs.

 

Thanks in advance, ive searched and read thro the forum but cant put my finger on a problem.

Welcome to the family.

Put some pictures up of the car and a birds eye view of the engine compartment.

look through the service history and find anything about the ISV, as it probably needs a good clean.

Thanks for the advice.

 

Turned out to be a 3pin connector on the distributor. Plastic had become brittle and the wiring was half in / half out.

 

Any idea if i can get a new connector?
