Engine cross member (nearly on head!)

Recommended Posts

Just went to fit my new bumper, removed the two bolts on the passenger side and the engine nearly fell

out on my head! I guess this should not happen right? As far as I can make out the circled red bit on the

attachment should still be fixed to the cross member?

Not happy this is the second time my car has tried to kill me now :-(

Yep, correct - same thing happened to me and Gazman on his VR, luckily the ratchet I was undoing the bumper bolts with saved it dropping any further... I now always use a bottle jack under the engine mount when taking the bumper off!

Thanks Supercharged I thought that was going to be the case :?

Worth a warning to anyone who is thinking of removing their bumper:

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN AXLE STAND UNDER THE FRONT MOUNT!

Better safe than flat

Cheers mate  I was just finally getting round to replacing the blue (knackered) bumper that was on the

car when I got it, it has a nice green late spec nose now and I am very pleased with it :D

Cheers Nikki + Peanut for supplying the bumper, 3Corsameal + Dukest for supplying the fog lights

and scarlet_vr6 + Goldie for supplying (and delivering) the indicators

Last but not least thanks to Tom for giving me a hand (and a dry barn) to fit the above 8)

I will be getting some pics up when I finaly get Vista to work with my phone
