Sorry Jon but listen to your big brother!!! Think of a hatchback as a 2 box car, one box for the engine the other for the passengers and luggage, whereas a saloon is a 3 box car - one for engine, one for passengers and one for luggage!! Critical_Mass 10 Posted July 4, 2007 Looking at it another way, with a hatchback the rear window lifts with the boot lid. With a Saloon the rear window doesn't lift with the boot lid. Yeah, i preferred the box analogy too. but you get the gist.

double-6s 0 Posted July 4, 2007 I can't actually see a car in that pic? It's just a pic of an empty street on a grey dull rainy day isn't it? ;) Free or not - it should be shot.
Guest Posted July 4, 2007 Think of a hatchback as a 2 box car, one box for the engine the other for the passengers and luggage, whereas a saloon is a 3 box car - one for engine, one for passengers and one for luggage!! that is exactly the right way to define it. opening the boot on a hatch gives access to the passenger cabin, on a sedan (as we define them in our Database) doesn't but yeah, they have tried to make is as sedan shaped as they can, and yes, it's missing the taxi signs
