Oil type in G60

what oil does everyone use in their G60's

 

Had mine changed today and they used semi synth shell helix 15/40 iirc.

 

I thought it was meant to be fully synth and something less viscous?

 

They were adamant this was best tho

I use VW's own fully synthetic Quantum Synta Gold. Only £15 with the discount I get!

I've heard that Mobil 1 help to keep the temerature a bit lower on G60's.

Quantum Silver is what you need, Gold is too thin.

I use comma eurolite which is a 10/40w semi synthetic based oil it costs about £8 with my discount :D

I recently bought a G60 and when I took it to Dubsport to be serviced I asked for Mobile 1 as it is without doubt the best oil on the planet.

 

Dubsport promptly shot me down by telling me that on G60s if they haven't always used a fully synthetic oil then if you change to them later there is a good chance that you will develope oil pressure problems. :?

quantum synta silver semi synth is the stuff to use and please only use genuine vw oil filters too (ie g60 one's have the bolt shape in the casing to remove it!)
