CORRADO4LIFE 0 Posted November 5, 2003 I have got a 2.0L 16v and have noticed on cold starts that the car some times requires a little gas to get it going when i turn it over, i know that i shouldn't be doing this so can any1 suggest what i need to do to fix the problem. Also on some cold starts i have experienced a lack/delay in power from the car when I put me foot down! does this all sound like its fuel related. Please any advice of where to start looking to sort these problems out would be much appreciated. Also the brake system warning lamp comes on/flickers when I boot it, there appears to be brake fluid in the system and the brake work perfectly fine any ideas people???? dubster82 0 Posted November 6, 2003 there appears to be brake fluid in the system How much brake fluid? it is at the max? could be faulty handbrake switch :? Cant help you with the starting probs, sorry
corradovr6sc 0 Posted November 6, 2003 brake fluid could be low or more likely a dodgy sensor (replace cap/built in sensor on brake fluid reservoir)
vr6storm 0 Posted November 6, 2003 Also the brake system warning lamp comes on/flickers when I boot it, there appears to be brake fluid in the system and the brake work perfectly fine any ideas people?????? i had this problem with mine in the first few months of ownership.......solved it by fiddling about with the sender/float type top of the reservoir.....just took it out and gave it a good clean and moved it up and down a few times........i think some dirt got trapped in it and with doing the above it dislodged whatever was causing it to read falsely

Phil K 0 Posted November 8, 2003 Havin similar probs with mine mate along with backfiring and big time loss of power randomly when warm. I went down to my friendly dub dealer and they plugged in diagnostics and couldn't find fault (checked it for free though, bless em).... soon as I sort mine out I'll let you know as it might be the same for yours :D
Henny 0 Posted November 9, 2003 Brake warning light problem could be that you've got non-wear-sensor pads fitted and the sensor wire is touching metal on acceleration making the light flicker as it should when you're pads are low... Have a look behind the front wheels with the wheel off (car jacked up, obviously! ) and see if you can see a multi-plug that's not attached, or a pair of dangling wires, then these could cause your light to come on... Also check that the insulation on these wire is OK, as if it has worn through and is touching an earth then this would also cause the light to flicker... 8)
jims corrado 0 Posted November 9, 2003 If you are suffering from poor starting when it is cold. Make sure you have bosch spark plugs fitted. I had the exact same problem on my scirocco and spent a fortune on diagnostics and new parts etc. as soon as i put bosch pkugs back in the problem went away.
