No temp gauge

I am after abit of advise for my 2.0 16V.

The temperature gauge is not working :(

 

Anyway to test if its the dash at fault?

 

Also if it is, would I be able to replace the left dial (temp/fuel) instead of replacing the whole pod.

 

Does the passat dial fit also?

Check out the "1 pin black" sensor that is below the water outlet on the right hand side of the head, they're cheap enough to replace but in a slightly awkward place to change.........but if you're not getting any reading at all i would first turn my attention to the wiring, check it's plugged in etc...
