John-M 0 Posted July 21, 2007 Well, I'm underwhelmed at the response to this - I'm looking at this same subject right now, due to a water leak into the interior soaking large areas of the under-carpet and bulkhead sound proofing/deadening stuff. If I find any decent suppliers I'll post info here.
Supercharged 2 Posted July 21, 2007 John - The Foam shop in Kesgrave are pretty good and usually have some off cuts lying around... I need to do something similar as the OE stuff is useless (and stinks) after it gets an water onto it... was planning just to replace with High Density foam... Thanks - but does HD foam have the same sound deadening properties as the oe felt stuff ??
Supercharged 2 Posted July 21, 2007 Well... not really sure, I was planning on keeping the sandbag stuff as that is fine and the compressed horse hair stuff or whatever it is seems similar to foam with regards to density and spongeyness...
fla 9 Posted July 22, 2007 You can also use some of that Cloud 9 stuff you can get from carpet fitters. Cut it into the appropriate shape and slide it under the carpets. Pretty good, especially if you double it up.
