CO Tap tube?

Recommended Posts

if its refering to the sniffer pipe that lets you check the exhaust gasses before the cat, its a small metal tube with a light blue rubber cap on the end and can usually be found at the rear left of the engine bay as you look at it from the front, you can usually see them wobbling side to side when the engine is running as the brakets that hold the pipe to the exhaust manifold are usually rusted through.

ok,one more daft question in regards to the CO pot.

In the manual it looks like you can isert a screw driver into it and turn it.

On mine it has a blue plastic circle on top.

Does the blue bit come off????

as per item 13.

Hi

She's behaving well, although oil temps seem to average 120-130

I'm gonna buy an oil cooler on payday me thinks.

Ok,I adjusted the CO and idle.Got idle down to what I believe to be about 800 rpm

but the CO didn't seem to want to go below 1.5 %.

What gas tester did u use?

Did you buy one, borrow one or did someone set the mixture 4 u?

cheers

Hi Rob,

On the oil temps have you changed your Thermostat recently? I only ask because I changed mine with a genuine

VW one 6 months ago during a full service and noticed that the temp went right up to 130 degrees on the oil

So I took it out and put it in a pan of boiling water with my old one, the new one had a smaller apature and didnt open

as far or as quickly as my old one :? so I marched it back to VW and got another one.... Same thing so I tried another

one... After that I gave up and put my old stat back in. IMO VW stat's are sh1te am going to have to change it eventualy

as mine runs really cold and takes ages to warm up the oil as my old stat doesnt close all the way :-( but better too cold

than too hot, she doesnt get thrashed till the oil is at 80 degrees anyway and thats the important bit!

Will get a low temp one (if I can find one for a G60 they all appear to be VR6!) when I get round to it!

On the CO I have never set mine mate I am going to get Gwerks to do it when she goes in for the

Charger rebuild and a few new toys 8)

All I did was take the CO pot off and measure the resistance and set it to around 200ohms (apparently

that is the recommended base value but best do a quick search to confirm)

Cheers

Dan

yeah I remebered measuring the resistance when I was having those running probs b4 and it was in spec.

Nah I've never touched the thermostat.

I just rekon its a combo of the smaller pulley and hard driving

It is running very nicely at the mo tho,and the idle speed is normal now.

I have bit the bullet and put it in for its MOT .

Should get it back at about 16:00 :shaking:

New toys?

always good! :)

Hi Rob,

Not got an exact list of new toys yet, will depend on Darrens recommendations and of course how much

change I get from the charger rebuild :? but am going to get an RS charger outlet and possably an FMIC 8)

Good luck with the MOT! Lets us know how she gets on :-D

She passed

The only thing It would have failed on is the license plate light ,which they quickly fixed 4 me anyway.

A few advisorys etc but all is good.

best of luck with the maintenance/mods etc.

The RSR outlet gives a very nice acceleration tone imo.Addictive 8) .

I must contact gwerks myself as I understand they can supply an oil cooler.

cheers.

0.579,I guess this would have been taken after the cat thus it should be less than the 0.7 +-0.4 or what ever it is !??

p.s I rekon u should go for a pulley kit and and an sns chip b4 you get a fmic IMHO. :offtopic1:

:thumbleft:

But your going to the right place for advice.

It's tempting very tempting but am worried about the decrease between rebuild times

am doing loads of mileage at the moment so dont want to have to get the blower re-built

once a year! :?

Plus she is already running a Bar of boost @ 5200 and anything over that is wasted anyway?

Will have a word with Darren and see what he thinks :D
