Rattling noise from my 16v engine...

noticed it the last few days when coasting & slowing down.. under load cars pulls fine no power lose... checked oil at lunch seems fine, topped it up...

 

cars done 185k now.. wondering if its time to say good bye to the valver lump??

 

pls advise chaps..

Not sure about the rattles but i defintely agree....

 

Bin the valver, this has got 20vt written all over it... :)

:iamwithstupid: Not that I think you're stupid or anything Goldie, on the contrary, that's a capitol idea! :D

 

As for the rattling that definately will call for some investigatory exploration. My guess would be something is loose if it's rattling at certain engine speeds. But that is only a guess without hearing it.

cheers all for yr replies.. 20vt is way to common... :lol:

 

just had a good look around, seems like the driver CV boots split & grease inside rim.. minor fix.. what worried me was the amount of play in drivers wheel when we move it side to side... think the wheel bearings fooked.. not something I can do.. so will get it to mates garage asap...

 

once Ive had above fixed, if theres still a rattling noise I'l have to look into it further.. not good timing.. oh well, its my daily so cant be helped...
