Cat D Insurance Write Off

Out of interest what's peoples general views on buying a car which comes up as having a Cat D insurance write off? Not too clued up on this may affect the car in terms of getting insurance, resale value etc etc..

 

Any info is appreciated.

On a insurance point of view, it's not going to cause a problem getting insurance. As long as you have an independent engineers report stating that the car is in a roadworthy state and the repairs are to a satisfactory standard. Well thats what we accept at the insurance company I work for, which is part of RBS insurance.

Not too sure how I'd feel driving a Cat C or D write off though.

As long as the damaged has been repaored properly then I dont see it as a problem. Mine was a cat d when I bought it.

i suppose if you're with the car for the long haul and not too worried about saleability in the future it could be a good investment, assuming the repair work was carried out to a high standard.
