Well, here it is... My new 2.0ABA short block for my 16V build!!! It needs some major cleaning. I went out for a few hours today between my classes and worked at it and cleaned it up pretty good. These pics are from before I cleaned it.

Well, obviously, as you guys can see from the previous pic, the motor was in pretty rough shape. Over the last few days I've taken it apart and checked everything inside of it, and it's all in pretty good shape! I've spent a ton of time cleaning it up as well. I started the morning with this:

And now have this:

I'm psyched to get the head... Damn paychecks that only come every two weeks!!!!

At approximately 4:00 this afternoon (July 7th), I have owned my Corrado for one year, and I still haven't killed myself! Yay!

I know a lot of people are always looking for G60's (first mistake), so I wanted to take a moment to put everything into perspective.

One year ago, $2800 got me this:

l_ca%38%30f19e819b2ba79ff8872d27fd69bc.jpg

I drove to the other side of Chicago to get it. The add said that it ran, everything worked, and it could be driven home. The PO said that he had owned it for three years and never insured it because he couldn't afford it. But when we got there, it did run fine, though it had a few perks. When we got about a mile down the road, it started to act up and stopped running, and if it did run I still shouldnt've driven it home (I probably shouldnt've bought it in the first place, though). There was a bushing on the steering wheel that was bad, so I could move the steering wheel however I wanted to. It also didn't have good brakes, it overheated, and the shifter bushings were shot.

Oh, and the car hadn't been insured and had sat outside of the guys barn for all three years.

It took three days to get it running again. Since we've picked it up, here's everything we've had to replace, all adding up to almost $3000.

-Supercharger

-Shifter bushings

-Tie rods

-C/V boots

-Driver's side wheel hub

-Strut bearings

-Suspension

-Tires

-Belts (almost need to be done again, and it's only been about 15k miles :screwy:)

-Normal oil changes and such

-Cruise control module

-power steering pump

-Waterpump

-A/C compressor died

-Relayed e-codes

-Various nuts and bolts PO didn't replace

-All new switches inside

-ISV

-New fender

Shit that's gone wrong:

-Wheels fall off

-Caught on fire twice

-Almost blew up

-Tie rods locked

-Passenger side suspension kept coming loose, regardless of how tight we made it

-Spoiler broke

-headlights weren't relayed

-Fog light switch died

-Various battery drains

-ISV

I'm sure I'm forgetting some on both of those, but that's the jist of it.

So here I am, one year, three grand and 19k miles later, with a reliable *crosses fingers, knocks on wood, holy water, etc. etc.* Corrado that's still pulling strong (except for a damn battery drain that popped up tonight!!!! :pissed: :pissed: ) Women like it (shazing!) it's a good conversation piece, and it looks pretty damn good now. It's also taught me a hell of a lot about cars

All in all, it's been worth it... I need to finish the 16v though!!!!!! And I think you'll all be glad to know the stripes are going bye bye.

I arrived home from class tonight to find two big packages sitting inside of my front door. I tear them open like a kid of Christmas morning.

Are those.... Shiny new FK coilovers?!

They ARE shiny new FK coilovers!

Guess which side has them on and which doesn't?

My old, junky stock towers with Neuspeed springs <_>

LOWER!!!!

Too low for the driveway.

I'm sure some of you are asking "SO you said there were too packages. What was in the other?" Well, I'll tell you. Bubblewrap and a 16V head!

Since it was light outside (light? During the day?! Blasphemy!) I got these good pics to show how much lower it is.

It's not a crazy drop, but it's enough to make me happy.

looks much better lowered. Before it looked like the wheels were too small because of the arch gap but now its spot on. Whats the ride like with it that low?

looking good mate. looks much better lowered. was it on stock springs on owered springs with standard shockers?. is your car legal having the Grenade plate on top and then your real reg underneath your bumper. we would get shafter for that! lol

Thanks for the comments. It rides a TON better than the old springs. It still rides really smooth this low.

It was on Neuspeed springs on stock towers more recently, but when I bought it it had stock towers in the front and Bilsteins in the rear with H&R springs on it.

As for my plates, I think it's still legal because the front plate is "...clearly displayed on the front of the vehicle". If you're right in front of it looking at the car from a standing position you can't see it, but from another car driving at it it's clearly visible. No cop has ever said anything about it to me, though I do get some pretty nasty looks from them

I'm going to keep rocking it that way until I get stopped for it. :D

I haven't been around these forums much because I've been too busy working on my car!

Big update! First I'll start with the 16V.

I have the head on and everything!

2739238352_880f98d1b2.jpg

This is just a crappy cell phone picture. I still have to polish my manifold and bolt it on.

2799904099_229d7f59ff.jpg

2799904217_086250bc55.jpg

I also wanted to have solid black tail lights, but I didn't have the money, so I got some spray on tint and went to town!

2751233224_bf4dce7709.jpg

Then I got tired of my front end looking so crappy, and three days before a show seemed a good time to paint it up

Finished product, the previous night:

(^I'm not gonna lie... I kind of miss the stripes :()

We were up bright and early the next morning to make the six hour drive to Chicago for CVO's Treffen and Corrado Rush show, which I will make a new topic about it. My friend took these pics on the way there and back. We covered it in painter's tape to try to protect the paint, but had too much fun... :p

When we arrived at the show (my friend Kurtis, Me, and my other friend Chris)

Tape off:

The trip was fun, but of course something bad had to happen. As I was pulling into the hotel at night after running some errands, a foreign man in a Honda was sitting in the middle of the driveway and I didn't have enough space to get in. Unfortunately, by the time I realized this I was already in the driveway and had two options: Hit him and total my Corrado, possibly send us both to the hospital, or hit the curb. So I took the logical path...

At the show:

(My friend is on the right)

I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it looked compared to some of the others:

On the way home my friend took this incredible shot:

2800778382_3e6c634acb.jpg

And then when we got back I went and picked up a few feet of vinyl and I'm trying these on for kicks.

I'm back at my university now, so it's going to be a bit before another update most likely... Darn lack of money!!!

Things don't look too good right now. My motor mount bracket is bad, and I've been trying to keep it tightened on until I can get a new one. On Thursday it came loose again, so I drove to my friends house. On the way there the front end started acting weird and making funny noises (clunks, grinds, etc). So I checked it out, and both C/V joints are going bad. The ball joints are also bad, and the tie rods are starting to look a little rusty. Plus the rear motor mount is bad.

I was going to put it together so I could get it out of my garage, but as I went to put the front wheel back on I noticed something pressing into my hand. I look down to see that my tire has the metal threads showing through it. So I spent all of yesterday procuring a new DD and a new tire.

looking really good in some of the above pics, i never really liked red cars until i've seen a few nicely modded ones on here, yours included :)

do you mean the engine mount has come loose and ruined all the front end components to the wheels? :(

I'm not sure if it's related to that or not, but that's basically the case.
