andy_vw 0 Posted November 8, 2007 Hi All, Just had my car MOT'ed & it failed on the emissions... I almost fell over when I saw the results: Fast Idle Test: RPM 2606 CO 12.165 HC 1352 Lambda 0.662 Limits for CO is 0.3 & HC is 200 !!! Something is really up! Any ideas? Andy. CazzaVR 0 Posted November 8, 2007 That's mad! :( Have you tried a different metering head? There must be someone on here who'd let you swap a working one on to see if it makes a difference. Other than that, is the lambda OK? It failed it's last MOT with me on CO emissions, but only just- CO was around 0.32, but just wouldn't budge below 0.3. Blake fitted a new lambda and it went through OK.
andy_vw 0 Posted November 8, 2007 I've phoned Blake - they said it may be the metering head... Passed on everything apart from this & a rear brake hose... :( The major over-fueling could explain my crap MPG!
Howard1778 0 Posted November 8, 2007 I'm having the same problem, have had 2 cats in the past 3 years now in order to get through the MOT.
renson 0 Posted November 11, 2007 what were the rest of the results (co2 and o2) your lambda seems low, sure this should be about 1.2ish. this could point to a fault with the machine itself. what engine do you have? i service and calibrate mot equipment, i will look and see tomorrow what the defined limits are after a BET test is failed and see if i can replicate similar readings. if you could post all the results that would be more helpful. Have had times when garages have failed 4 or 5 cars all on lambda because of a leak in their equipment. more likely than not its something with the car but i can see what happens
