how do you change exterior door handles?

my driver side door handle is now broken. how do i change these for some other ones and can the locks be swapped aswell or will i then always need two keys?

Its pretty straight forward really. Just undo the screws on the inside of the door (the side you cant see when the door is closed.) - the screws may be reverse thread too, so if you find you cant get them off, try turning them the other way.

 

The handles should just slide out with a bit of persuasion. You then just have to disconnect the wire that is attached to the inside of the handle. As for changing the locks, i think it is possible yeah. Or the new handles locks can be rebarrelled (if thats the right word). I think theres a HOW TO in the knowledge base on how to do it.

my drivers side broke the other day too :mad: search for repair kits from daves16v will work out cheaper and not break again. you might have to tak your door card off too

dont mean to steal this thread but theres a few "door handle" threads!

what is involved in changing the door handles for flush ones ie audi a4 etc is there any bodywork required? cheers
