stormseeker 0 Posted January 19, 2004 ['H3R4POR] exactly the same as my 93 VR, just had mine in the garage, and VW said they had to do several manual/mechanic checks, and couldn't just plug it into the diagnostics, because of the age, it doesn't have all the features of later versions :( And they are talking complete bo11ocks! If yours is a VR, it has the Bosch motronic ECU so it has exactly the same "Features" as later VR's that have the OBDII-style 16 pin connector. All you need is an adaptor lead and yours will talk to VAG-COM - and the pukka VW diagnostics tools (VAG1551 etc.) see http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/2x2.html -- the picture showing the actual adapter VW dealers should be using :-) Maybe they're just being lazy, and when the refer to "later versions" they mean the newest Golfs/Passats/ etc. generally having more detailed diagnostics systems???
