Recommended Posts

Hi every one hopefully im going to solve a few problems here.

I Had a problem with my car that it kept cutting out and i wouldnt be able to get it started again for about half an hour, i tried every thing i could think of but now it looks like its the going to be the crank shaft positioning sensor acording to VW. If it turns out to be somethin different i will let you all no.

try removing it, cleaning it, and cleaning the block where it mounts back to bare metal (it earths through it's body). refit it, without any grease.

Havent fitted the 4WD drive yet. but it's currently got 207BHP.

It's built for torque, not peak power.

Turn2USA crank pulley

268 cams

Schrick VGI

TB coolant bypass

Cone filter mounted outside the engine bay.

TB heat sheild

No PCV, EGR, carbon cannister of oil breather rubbish.

Unknown chip (revs to 7200??)

The crank sensor is £140+VAT if it needs replacing :?

Phat, did you notice any adverse effects by ditching the TB coolant hoses? Why did VW feel the need to heat the TB anyway? To stop icing?

Regarding you breather, have you just vented it to a catch tank somewhere?

The TB heatshield sounds like a wise plan, I've already made one for the ISV damper pot, which has helped a bit.

Just things I've been considering also!

PhatVR6, tell us what difference the turn2 pulley made? and 7200rpm, the rev counter could be out!

kevhaywire, At this time of the year it'd be a good thing to have a bit heat in the T/B but brings me to a though, mine gets burning hot with the hot supercharged air! think i'll try bypassing it as mine will heat up regardless! ;-)

The heat shield for the TB is factory! it's off a VR6 syncro.

Not noticed any adverse effects from by passing the TB coolant lines. then again, I never ran this engine with them connected as it has no heater in it. so as you will guess, I've never ran it in the winter either.

the rev counter is fine, I've got a dyno plot to prove it prduces power up to 7000rpm. and boy does it sound good! it tokk me a month before I eventually found the rev limiter!
