Yeay, passed the MOT... at a price

Recommended Posts

Ok so it had a service as well, but it cost me £536.55 at my local independent garage. Ouch!

MOT work it needed:

New headlight as old one had had the back punched out - looks like an old dear has bumped it whilst I've been parked

Steering column top mount bracket insecure

2 brake pipes and a brake hose.

Me skint now, especially as the insurance is due next month.

That sounds like a lot of money for what you have listed.

did you get a full service or something?

I guess brake lines probably eat up hours of labour come to think of it.

It had a full service plugs, drive belt (water pump), strip and unseize calipers etc. It was the headlight that crippled the bill £144+VAT :(

Tried to, but couldn't get my hands on one quick enough. If you think about it £50 second hand plus MOT retest fee plus no car whilst 2nd hand one arrives and is fitted isn't that much of a saving.
