Exhausts source!

Recommended Posts

Hi all

For the last two weeks I have though my wheels were rubbing on the arch but I have now discovered that this is not the case. Got home from work and noticed the tail pipe (from the back box) was hanging off. I ripped the thing off and started to search for a new box on the web. The next day I wanted to check the fitting to get the right back box and noticed that the center box id hanging down. It is this that has been htting the floor. The hook that holds it up has come off. I will weld it back on at the weekend but now I need a new cat back system. The one on my car is nhot that old and has lasted bugger all time.

What is a good exhaust for a 1994 2.0 16v?

And which is the cheapest place to purchase them?

I am aware of the "definitive" thread but it did not help me out.

Thanks

I've just been out and bought a Magnex cat back for my 2.0 16v, Venom Motorsport have a 10% discount on them so it was only £315 inc vat. Everywhere else I looked was selling them for about £290+vat. Not had it fitted yet but it's one of the most highly regarded systems for a corrado so should do the job nicely.

I've got a Powerflow with a cat bypass (£340) - big improvement. Make sure you keep the catalytic converter or your MOT will get expensive as i recently found out.

Looked under the car over the weekend. Both hooks have now come off and it looks like a bodge job to me. Waiting for a quote from VW specialists for a new exhaust.

May as well get it done properly!

Not looking forward to the price though.

For the VW garage to change the exhaust it costs £505. The back box is on back order and won't be in for 2 weeks. I can not wait that long and so have ordered a Magnex system from venom motorsport for £330 inc shipping. ( thanks steve 16V). The VW garage will fit it for £52 quid.

Works out cheaper to get your own!

motorsportworld.co.uk sell a Supersprint cat bypass for 2.0 16v newer than 92, they're not cheap though, £88 delivered.

Have you had yours fitted yet kuipers23? I went to get mine fitted today and the short pipe that connects the centre section to the cat was wrong with mine so it wouldn't go on. The pipe I got is tapered in on both sides so the diameter is the same as the cat, to connect to the cat it shouldn't taper at all on one side so it sleeves over the cat pipe.

I spoke to Rich at Venom and he's ordered another pipe so will hopefully get it fitted later this week.

Had the exhaust fitted this morning.

It all went on okay but it took them 2 hours to fit. Drove to work and it sounds nice. Not to loud which is good. No knocks or rattles either. I swear my car is going better as well. The pick up lower down is much better. Given the fact the last exhaust was a borsal I think the magnex makes a difference.

I had it fitted at a vw garage. £74

Now I am gong to get a de cat to see what difference that makes.
