scarlet_vr6's blackberry!

That photo from Castle Combe is still probably my favourite Corrado pic ever- I have been away working in the US for a few months and managed to totally miss it on the calender :( At least Isla enjoyed it, she wants me to get a Blackberry one day!

Thank you Matt! That's made my day (month!) :D I'm so pleased with that photo that I've had it enlarged and printed on canvas. It's a very flattering pic!

I guess you are back from the States now? Must be lovely to be home after such a long time, and I bet that first drive was good! :)

Well done Isla, good choice!

Ye, I miss the weather as I was in Florida! But was nice to be back in the G60 after driving all those boring heavy automatic Chevy trucks!

^^^ It's true! A full account of my first experience with the beast will be up soon- when I've had some sleep and recovered from the G-force inflicted on my brain in the last few hours! :)

It's been quite some time since I've even looked at my thread, never mind updated it, so it's about time I did. Can't believe I missed the updates from Oz and Matt too! Both seem to have made great purchases in this time!

The reason for such a long absence is my rado was off the road for the majority of last year. I took it to Wheels Day in Aldershot on Good Friday last year but when I returned to my car in the afternoon, the windscreen had cracked. I took it to a bodyshop which had been recommended to me but unfortunately I don't have such a good story to tell.

Since the windscreen was being replaced under insurance, I decided to take the opportunity of having a couple of small areas of rust removed from the bottom of each A-pillar. On the morning I was due to collect it, I phoned them to make sure all was well but they informed me there was a problem with the alarm system. They told me an alarm specialist had already looked at it and they also told me they had spiked the alarm control unit (my mechanic friend said they would have done this by welding the patches in place with the battery still connected...). They had also already ordered a new control unit. I waited a few days and they then told me that the part didn't exist as there had been an error on the company's stock control system. No other control unit could be found so I said that the system would have to be replaced and at their cost since they broke it. Suddenly it was no longer their fault and they wanted me to pay for it. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Arguments ensued and we eventually came to an arrangement so the installation was booked.

Andy from Trimwizard was extremely helpful in advising me which me system to go for and did a marvellous job of installing it, including tidying up existing wiring. He is highly recommended by me. Unfortunately the saga continued. Having completed the fitting, Andy tested it and when he turned the engine over, the bottom of the radiator gave in and so my car spat coolant everywhere. At this point, I was wondering if I was ever going to drive it again!! By the time all this was sorted, it was September and the MOT had expired. Once I got that magic sheet of A4, I was happy and the first drive was fantastic, but no, this wasn't the end either.

The car had 2 new Continentals on the rear. They had covered less than 2500 miles when I discovered that the inner tyre wall of one had split all the way round. I knew the handling was off but couldn't find any issues on the outer tyre wall or the tread of any of my tyres, so perhaps naively, I thought it was just the tracking that was out. The tyre company refused to replace the tyre saying it's my fault so the tyre has gone back to Continental for their verdict. I had to buy a new tyre in the meantime and I'm still awaiting a reply from Conti.

The car has now been back on the road for a couple of months and has developed some kind of clutch issue. If I hadn't been well and truly bitten by the Corrado bug, I may have given up on it by now, but this isn't nearly enough to deter me, so here's to happy motoring and good shows with clement weather for us all this year!! :D

Sounds like a right nightmare.

Look forward to seeing it out and around Basingstoke. If someone in a silver Lexus GS430 flashes you, that will be me (or I'll be in the Rado if I get it out the garage for a spin)

Light at the end of the tunnel.... with Corrados, the tunnel tends to be pretty long, just keep smiling

So long as you still love it, I guess you just have to keep going. Remember that there's nothing quite like a shiny, functioning blackberry rado on your drive when it's done!

Thanks everyone! Fret not, my chin is up and I've spent an enjoyable few hours in the sunshine this week, washing the outside (annoyingly I seem to have lost my clay and wax) and giving the interior a thorough clean. In fact I'm so pleased with him at the moment that I think I'll go for a drive...

My drive last night and the Bournemouth/Poole meet today were great and my car is running really well at the moment (probably shouldn't say that out loud!). Moments like these remind me why I don't give up, even when I do manage to tip ground pepper over my freshly vacuumed drivers' seat! Feeling inspired!

Could be worse - could have been a cup of coffee or something! At least pepper will hoover out!

No, nothing bad at all... it just made me laugh at the ridiculousness of it!! I don't even eat or drink in the car!

Despite the car's best efforts otherwise, I've been to 2 really good meets in the last 4 days. What a lucky girl I am! I have an alloy with a beading issue (luckily I have 5 RXs and I managed to get a replacement tyre this afternoon), a car which when hot, hunts at idle and then cuts out (luckily it restarted each time when I was stuck in traffic) and a gear selection problem (luckily it's been warm recently and it's barely noticeable when warm). Feeling full of enthusiasm and even have a delivery from elite due tomorrow so hopefully he'll look slightly more presentable at Stanford Hall. That's assuming the aforementioned woes don't get any worse as I don't think I'll get them resolved before then...!

What a great day yesterday was! It was my birthday and my Corrado gave me a great present... I took it to the garage to get the clutch problem resolved and it didn't cost a fortune for once!! It had pretty much sorted itself out by the time I arrived at the garage a couple of miles away; I left my house only able to select 4th and 5th and by the time I arrived, I had all gears back. I decided it was wise to let them check it over anyway, esp since I need the car to get me to the airport next week, and a fluid change later and the gear change is super smooth! 2 out of 3 issues crossed off since my last post!

With some contributions, I decided to treat myself to a D-SLR for my birthday (for those of you interested, I chose a Canon 650D with 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses) and since it was such a glorious day, it would have been rude not to pop out and take a couple of pics of my C. I was very short of time though, so I had the camera firmly in auto... Now all I need to do is improve my composition and learn how to use all the different settings and features properly. Preferably before Stanford Hall!!

Thanks Ben!

Just looked at that first photo again and the ride height looks terrible... look at that arch gap! Definitely need to practice composition!
