 Think Maplins do a solar power one that you stick in the window and plug into your cigarete lighter :?

So now that you are back from oz, how's the engine repair going, is it ready?.

Graham is beavering away at it, hopefully sorted by the end of the month, not going for it until it warms up abit anyway. I have to reaclimatise to this weather.

Did meet up with Russ [aussievdub] down in Perth, top bloke with a nice corrado, and such a great place to drive it, so jealous :wave:holidays, xmas 09 pt 2 008.JPG[/attachment:3fr6moo2]

Awesome!

But did you mean Copper brake lines, or are they actually from a Cupra? Never heard of that swap being done before!

Cupra nickel is harder and longer lasting than copper, easier to work than steel pipe and should corrode less, it wont be out in the winter though :)

Thanks for the comments guys :thumbleft: it has become a bit of an obsession :? engine out next winter for rebuild and tidy up  just dont know where to stop

Heres a couple from the summer [roll on]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSCN1202.JPG[/attachment:1eazbtcm]

The copper-nickel tube I've used is called "Cunifer" and comes in coils. If you can get hold of a "flaring" kit you can make up your own lines with the correct shaped ends.

Two big advantages :

You can mould it to shape to suit the contours of the body

It's almost completely corrosion resistant [certainly better than 304 s/s, not quite as good as 316] but does benefit from painting with Waxoyl.

Our local VW specialist E&S Swift uses it.

Not been on for a while, fell out of love with it :( cos of the problems with the 1st and 2nd rebuild. 3rd time lucky thanks to Dave and Graham at DG Autotech. Should have used the professionals in the 1st place. Such attention to detail and care shown. Highly recommend these guys to anybody needing any problems solved with there beloved Corrados :notworthy:

Just won my first trophy at Stanford Hall show and managed runner up 129 points   Just 6 behind Chris Gaskills Scirroco. Still got room for improvement, bit more detailing required

Didnt take the camera to the show but heres a couple just to show off :clap:2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfStanford runner up 038.JPG[/attachment:3ml71ehe]Stanford runner up 039.JPG[/attachment:3ml71ehe]

I remember 2005 (my 1st trophy) so very well. But be careful, I ended up buying another C to start from scratch so if you don't get a hold of yourself now who knows where it will lead...

That Mr Kippax has a lot to answer for.

Congrats again.

Top job mate. Was great to see yourself and the car yesterday, re-enthused after the disasterous events over the last year or so. Really pleased you found the enthusiasm for it again!

Sorry you didnt make it to Stanford, thought you had a lot to do!! Points wise lost a few odd points on chips and scratches and a few on detailing and lack of medical kit, generally very pleased, room for improvement. If work load permits may see you at DG openday!?

Pete griff, thanks mate, D&G certainly looked after it, drives like it should now, much respect for those guys :notworthy: I have been out detailing [with a toothbrush] :cuckoo: to reduce the points lost last time. I dont think Cas will stand for much more neglect though. See you at BVF if not before

I hadn't realised that it was so long since my last update, perhaps my obsession is under control. Anyway, its still driving a treat as you would expect after Dave and Grahams treatment, still have a few paint issues to sort but have been prepping for the NEC Classic Car Show. Its a pity most of my hard work wont be seen,Corrado92.pdf061.JPG[/attachment:2y8wrxpo]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdf062.JPG[/attachment:2y8wrxpo]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf068.JPG[/attachment:2y8wrxpo]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf066.JPG[/attachment:2y8wrxpo]063.JPG[/attachment:2y8wrxpo], and will have to clean it up again judging by the forecast this week, still there's no salt on the roads yet. :ignore:

Will have a few more engine bay stickers available if anybody is in need

Looking beautiful. I'm watching the weather forecast with interest and don't like what it's saying for Thursday... Oh well.

What time do you plan to set off? Think I want to be away asap so I have more cleaning time if the weather is bad.

Yes it will. If you see Brian Sewell and James May look alikes crawling around under your car then you know that we've made it to the NEC safe and sound.

Sounds like a plan. Take some with you and I'll sort you some sheckles at the show.

Kip. yep, plates no probs.

Jude, was thinking wednesday to miss the weather but more expense and availability might not be good, so thursday early ish and wash it down before it dries on :gag:

James, see you there, but bare in mind pictures always look better than the real thing. Your Campaign should surely be on the stand :notworthy:

You haven't seen it under the hood ! Hardly show material

Been laid up all day as I've (and I'm no expert) seriously hurt my back. It's going to be a last minute thing if I manage to attend as I'm struggling to make it accross the house at the moment, so may stuggle with all those halls. Going to see Doctor Ryder tomorrow for a prognosis but it isn't feeling/looking good.

Jude, got a barbain at the ibis then, but gather the hilton is mega expensive for food and drinks, still its only one night of luxury :norty:

Joby, advice is to be there at 10am for access to the stand but cannot make it that early. I think I may wait fot the worst of the weather to pass. Living in hope. You at the Premier Inn again with the Mrs.?

James, if you aint gonna make it I'll put a set of stickers to one side for you as numbers are limited.

Boostmonkey and rado 2, thanks for the kind words but its along way from being perfect, too many paintwork areas needing attention. :(

Just spoken to Dave and we are going to play weather roulette.

A planning phone call will be made at 9am but expecting to hold off driving till midday when weather forecast is saying it will be drier in the midlands.. Time will tell if we still end up setting off in rain and soaked roads.

But we will still be leaving early enough to have plenty of time to wash and dry etc etc
