Critical_Mass 10 Posted April 24, 2008 They will possibly require for it to be checked out by an alarm specialist. Give the insurance a ring and ask. Never known for an alarm to have a annual check for it.
Dec 1 Posted April 24, 2008 Yeah, neither have I! I've never once been asked to actually show the installation cert for my alarm by an insurance company though! They seem to just take my word for it that I actually have one.

junkie 0 Posted April 24, 2008 Iget asked for the certificate but not for the annual check but once it gets stolen then im sure they would ask. Cliffords are meant to be authorised dealer checked and stamped but apparently if you have a G4 clifford they never got round to making a stamp for it. dr_mat 0 Posted April 24, 2008 Point is that even if you buy and install a "CAT 1" alarm, two years later it may well be declassified. At that point you no longer have a CAT 1 alarm.. You are *supposed* to get it checked, and all the check really is is to look on the approvals list and make sure it's still listed at it's original category. I don't doubt that the vast majority of people never do, however, and that's probably fine. If the insurance companies really cared I'm sure they would let you know. But if you tell them it's certified you will need to be able to produce that certificate if you ever have to claim ..

The original after market alarm (Quantum) on my vr had been made obsolete as far as the insurance went. So i had to get a new one fitted. I had a new to the market Autowatch 475i CAT 1 alarm fitted and sent the certificate off to the insurance. They gave me a shock when they sent a letter saying this isnt a CAT 1 alarm. Apparently it was that new it wasnt on their CAT 1 list
