Scott 0 Posted November 28, 2003 C has cable shift as standard - most have a little play but alot of play usually means cables require adjustment........
ben16v 0 Posted November 28, 2003 how you go about that? it seems a bit more than a cable adjustment but i dont know... i heard about a 16v owner who changed the whole gear cable system from stick to selector???(bit next to the gear box with two cables going into it)(does that make sense???)just to get rid of the play...any ideas? :? JT 0 Posted November 29, 2003 there should also be a brass sleeve that slides onto the end of the bar that connects the actual handle to the top of the box. take the cover of the top and slide your lever left to right ( no pun intended ) and you'll see what i mean that would reduce a lot of play and costs pennies :D
h100vw 0 Posted November 29, 2003 Lift the gaiter round the gearstick. Make sure there is a circlip holding the stick onto the pivot. I had one broken on a Passat and that gave loads of slop and made it difficult to get reverse too. Gavin
