New Beetle Question

Recommended Posts

Not Corrado related I know, but at least it's VAG!

The Mrs's Bug (2002 1.6) has developed a noise on startup, sounds like a washing machine starting its spin cycle and lasts for about 30-45 secs, which upon good advice, is the Aux Air Pump wearing/worn out.

Apparently these serve little or no pupose and can be disconnected until the unit is/isn't replaced.

So the question is 2fold, firstly where is the bugger, and secondly is it just a case of disconnecting the plug feeding it?

Not had a chance to get underneath to have a look yet, so just wondering if anyone else has come across these on other models maybe, and is it correct that they can be disconnected with no harm being done elsewhere (MAF readings etc)

Cheers in advance as always... :)
