ever wished you had never started something?

Recommended Posts

on saturday i decided to remove the sound deadening foam from under my bonnet as it was all tatty and oily, this took about 2 minutes. afterwards i thought it might take just a little longer to remove the glue from where the foam had been, hey presto! nice shiny bonnet.

after about four hours and half a can of the strongest industrial solvent i could find at work i had done precisely one fifth of the bonnet! (but was as high as a kite from all the fumes!).

so the moral of this story is DONT DO IT.

i have now been out and spent the best part of £100 to get some heat resistant dynamat with silver foil on it to replace the foam.

looks nice now its done though!

What did you use to stick the 'dynamat' to the bonnet?

BTW how thick is the dynomat and what colour are the edges?

My hood is already free from sound deadening foam ...

I was thinking of doing dynamat in my car, not only the hood but the hole thing including the roof on the inside...

Any pics of that?? and is it better than the original stuff??
