Goodridge Hose Question

Hi All,

 

Well i'm fitting some used refurbed calipers to the fron of Judiths storm and they came with goodridge hoses attached, Question is though should the piece that connects to the solid line spin on the hose or is it supposed to be fixed? ie the whole braided section spining making it difficult to fit with the caliper fixed on the end!

 

I'm thinking it should have a bezzel that spins for ease of fitting but they may have rusted up!

The fitting on the solid line should rotate. If it's seized try giving it a sharp wack with a punch on one flat, soak in WD40 etc, remove the spring clip with a pair of pliers etc and clean it up with a wire brush. A further wack with a punch might be required. :)

Yep as the Toad master says the end on the solid brake line should spin. At least you managed to undo your solid brakeline from the flexi hose my solid brake line nut just rounded off when i did my 288mm conversion!

Jon Haven't yet removed it from the solid line so fingers crossed Lol! will try Tom's method for that end of the pipe first.

I cut the solid brake line off on both sides and replaced! Once rounded off there was no chance that was coming off

take a trip to your local halfrauds/motor factors - you can pick up spanners specially designed to remove brake line fittings - they are nearly a full ring spanner, but they leave a little slot in them to allow you to slip the head over the solid line. they will give you a much better chance of getting the fittings off without rounding them.

short of that, then it's a hacksaw, vise-grips and some new lines :)

When we were doing my brakes, we tried one of these aforementioned spanners, but it just bent open and didn't help much. Might be worth a punt, but I'd rather spend the money on a can of PlusGas and let it soak for a nice long time.
