iandavidcassidy 0 Posted December 7, 2003 I lifted the hood today when cold and noticed the coolant was below min. After driving for 30 mins the coolant was back to max!! why? should i top up with water soon or is this normal. Does this indicate a head gasket prob or something? DaveStorm 0 Posted December 7, 2003 According to the instruction manual, under the 'Checking Coolant Level' section it says "the coolant level must be between the MIN and MAX marks on the expansion tank when engine is cold and can be slighty above the MAX mark when it is warm". dr_mat 0 Posted December 8, 2003 Before you panic about the head gasket, assume it's a hose starting to go, or the radiator, or the heater matrix, or something like that. Water levels dropping slightly is usually the first sign of stuff like that.. Head gasket should be the last thing you assume..!! Supercharged 2 Posted December 8, 2003 Yeah, top it too minimum when cold and start the car and wait for it to get up to temp whilst monitoring the water level.... whilst your there check all the hoses and the rad for any signs of a leak - the coolant will leave a white powdery residue Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
