diggerbucket 0 Posted September 1, 2008 My VR6 has started sticking a bit in reverse, it goes in easily but sometimes needs a good wiggle and pull to get it out again. All the other gears are fine. Had a quick search and can only find problems with gears not going in, not the opposite! What's wrong with it?
diggerbucket 0 Posted January 3, 2009 Drove the car for the first time in a while today, and was reminded of this problem. Anyone got any ideas as to why I can't get out of reverse??!
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted January 3, 2009 I would try and reset your linkages, lube them up on the box side, make sure its alll nice and free. Try a oil change, try a fully synthetic lube/additive. If all else fails then its probably a box/indent fault.
davidwort 0 Posted January 4, 2009 Used to get this fairly frequently on my valver until I changed to fully synthetic (VW) gearbox oil. It's sometimes a little stiff to get out of reverse but much less frequently and not as bad when it does. When it had the mineral oil in I sometimes had to release the clutch again slightly and reverse the car a bit more to get it to release. There's nothing wrong with the box, it's just a little old and worn.
