Ice White Socks 0 Posted December 8, 2003 Following on from the post about heated mirrors (Which luckily are still working on mine :) ), My car has heated washer jets fitted but its very difficult to know whether they are working or not. What I do know is that I had my rear demister on for at least ten minutes when driving into work this morning and the frost still had not melted at all from anywhere around the jets :? Do they only work when water is being pumped through them or are mine just knackered :x Cheers Mike
Henny 0 Posted December 8, 2003 They are only there to defrost the actual nozzle of the jets. They don't actually heat the water or anything clever like that... They should work whenever the demister is on, but the contacts have a nasty habit (yes, you guessed it! ) of corroding and making for a pants connection that stops them from getting warm... Do I sense a trend for corroding external heating parts starting here?!? :? :x
Fat Tony 0 Posted December 8, 2003 Get a volt meter on them and you should see a reading. The you can tell if you have a good feed. Mines work a treat as long as you screen wash is strong enough. I have had it when the windscreen was so cold the screen cleaner got out of the washer jets and just froze to the window (Scotland eh :( ) cheers

dubbprince 0 Posted December 9, 2003 this post is a good one...cos the previous owner of my corrado has LED washers put in the place of the OE ones! But i still have the OE ones along with the wireing. Where do they connect up?? The led jets have a pos and negative wire...so i suppose i could wire them to that? the wires in the heated OE jets are brown and blue i think. So can i do it that way? or do i need to re-route them back the way it was.
dubbprince 0 Posted December 15, 2003 anyone?? :(
Henny 0 Posted December 15, 2003 dubprince If you wire 'em onto the wires for your LEDs, they'll be heating all the time that the LEDs were on before and will burn out PDQ... If you're gonna re-fit 'em, do it as was intended at the factory... Find where the wire's been removed (should come up the passenger side hinge IIRC) and reconnect it there... 8)
