g60 head -mk2 golf head- same????

would anyone no if the mk2 golf 1.8 gti 8v head is the same as the g60 head its just ive got a hole engine cheap 20 quid and planed to port and polish the head and put a different cam in it but i want to make sure its the same. thanks. :salute: :scratch: :scratch:

Iirc, the inlet ports are a different shape, there are some different castings...and the valves obviously aren't sodium filled like in the g60 head.

 

Im sure there is something else as well, can't just remember.

thanks for that saves me a lot of mucking about then. so anyone want a gti 8v engine.
