flatg40 0 Posted November 11, 2008 I have a Weitec Ultra GT kit to fit on my G60, and I have also all the parts for Vr6 top mounts. The springs are made for G60, so i bought the 110mm spring plates from VW, but there is a problem : the plate doesn't stay at the top of the stalk. The hole diameter is too big. Are the VR stalks bigger than G60 ones ? Or is it ok ?
Supercharged 2 Posted November 11, 2008 Can't see the pics but the late VR's got a floating spring plate setup, it's a bit strange and I'm not exactly sure of the point of it but it should be fine, just make sure the top mount threaded bush is done up correctly. Jim Bowen 1 Posted November 11, 2008 i think thats right, am sure the springs holds it up best to get another opinion than mine though....lol
flatg40 0 Posted November 11, 2008 thanks for your answers. any other opinions to confirm this information ?
Lufbramatt 0 Posted November 11, 2008 yes theyre meant to be loose, the spring pushes them up against the bearing so the spring can rotate with the strut body, and the shock shaft itself is locked against the non-moving part of the bearing which sits in the top mount rubber, so doesnt rotate. Supercharged 2 Posted November 11, 2008 ^ Thats wrong!!! That setup was superseded by VW - number 7 is replaced by a special nut (threaded bush on ETKA) which fits between the rubber donut and clamps down on the mount and bearing.
