Double din head unit skipping and failing to read dvd disk

Hi guys

My head unit is getting worse and worse over winter, with sat nav dvd failing to load, and cd audio skipping like mad.

Is it worth sending it off for a service (it's a 4 year old head unit) at a cost of £210, or am I better off giving it a decent clean, and keeping my eyes out for a replacement?

And if I am going to look out for a double-din replacement unit, where's best to look?

Maybe just condensation - any leaks inside the car - does the screen get misted up?

screen has been getting misted up quite a bit recently - good point... got sunroof and rear opening windows.

what would you guys recommend - getting seals checked and maybe putting in a silica pack?

Have you tried turning it off and on again? :lol:

 

I'd take the disks out of the car over night, so it's nice and warm first thing in the morning and thus won't get condensation on it...

yeah - refused to read on drive home despite warming the car up first.
