mike1955c 0 Posted December 26, 2008 Hi out there Got a big problem and hope someone can help. My almost perfect 1990 180016v carrado burst a power steering pipe and according to the great vw agent in my town , they are now obsolete parts as are door handles. Car now lying off road till i find replacement pipes to go from the rack - reservoir and also from rack - pump. I was told in the past that the pipes im speaking about were made by a third party company and not vw which would be good if i could find out who. anyway , can anybody help??? i beleive they used the same pipes on the mark 3 golf and early passats look forward to any input cheers
Toad 0 Posted December 26, 2008 i'm looking into getting a specialist firm, like Hyflex or Pirtec to make me up a hose. Might be worth speaking to someone like that.
pete_griff 0 Posted December 26, 2008 surely if you have a decent hydraulics outlet near you they would be able to make up a new hose?
saysomestuff 0 Posted December 26, 2008 i'm getting new hoses put together for different routing, cheap as chips. Although the standard routing includes that metal bit for cooling.

The cooling pipe is on the return side, and unpressurised so it's easier to cater for.
dickdasterdley 0 Posted December 27, 2008 I make these very hoses...check my website for contact details, prices are £70 for the high pressure hose and £50 for the low pressure hose, or £110 for the pair I'm not in work until the 5th jan, and my electroplating company are closed as well, but if you're desperate I can make you a set this week and paint them instead of having them plated Pirtek, in my experience, aren't much use...I've sorted out quite a few messes caused by their "handiwork"...they like to use compression fittings because they can't do the correct flares for the hose ends and in one case, the poor guy had sent his hose off to pirtek, who cut it into 4 pieces before declaring that they couldn't do anything with it...nice! My website is http://www.powersteeringstore.co.uk cheers Rich

Toad 0 Posted December 29, 2008 Seeing as the helpful part of my last post was deleted, call me on 07917 697262... It all came back after some forum issues. How much would you want for a reconditioned rack, for a VR6?
