Oil - Plugs for VR6

Recommended Posts

Hello

For my 3.0 VR which will be rotrex'd..

What really is the best oil, now I know I always hear about Synta Silver but is it really the best stuff for an engine which is driven quite hard and rev'd high? 10w-40 or 5w-40?

Also, what plugs, again, now I've always believed a spark is a spark so I've got the recommended NGK ones but would I be better off getting some Denso iridium things?

Cheers!

VW have just started selling Quantum Platinum oil which is a 5W 40 and replaces Synta Gold and PD Diesel, cheap too at £15 for 5 Ltrs

I'd give that a try as you as you know the engine seals etc are in good condition.

I think Golf 16V plugs are the ones to use with a Charged VR but Kevhaywire is probably the best person to ask.

Cheers buddy!

It'll be run N/A to start with through it's run in period e.t.c and for a little bit after..

What are the benefits of 5w over 10w?

thanks

My oil recommendations for forced induction VR6s :-

Stock pistons - Silkolene Pro S 10W/50

Forged Pistons - Castrol Edge Sport 10W/60

My recommendation for plugs on forced induction VR6s:-

Cheap but excellent, need regapping every 2K - NGK V Power R5671A - Heat grade 7 up to 15psi. Heat grade 8 up to 20psi, Heat grade 9 20psi +

Expensive, but fit and forget - Bosch F5DPOR (Audi S2 plugs)
