steve@flexi 0 Posted January 28, 2009 As my sunroof is f*?!ed I'm thinking of removing it and welding a plate in. Has anybody ever done this? does it involve much work? Cheers Steve
corradophil 3 Posted January 29, 2009 It would be far cheaper and easier to repair your existing sunroof, welding the hole up is a bit extreme, plus you will need to consider how to trim the inside of it. Repair it and you'll also benefit from having a sunroof, which is nice when the weather is good. 8)
vwdeviant 0 Posted January 29, 2009 Hmm weld/fill/smooth/paint... or replace a couple cables/clips (or the whole unit) 2-3hrs work... Have a look at the Wiki, there's a really good guide there...
waynos 0 Posted January 29, 2009 Would be quite a bit of work. It would be very hard to weld a panel in there without distorting the metal. Then obviously your whole roof would need filling and painting. After that you would have to source a non-sunroof headlining which wont be easy. Id say take some time out and repairthe sunroof or take the opportunity to upgrade to a passat moonroof
