Windscreen and aperture

Recommended Posts

When I had to have my screen replaced about 2 years ago, the fitting shop told me how they had done a good job by getting it to sit on 'all that rust'.

It's cracked again now, by the look of it though bad fitting.

I need to find somewhere in Lancashire who can fit me a new screen on insurance, but, whilst it's out take it to a body shop to get the aperture(sp?) sorted out - does that make sense?

The question;

Can anyone recommend somewhere to take it? It won't be going back to the dodgy national chain it went to last time.

Volkswagen themselves, at least they have screens that fit properly, take it your going through your insurance? they'll have a bodyshop too.

Butterfly says...

Sorry can't help with the suppliers bit but I feel for you and fully understand what you mean by having to get it to a body shop for painting once the screen is out.

I have been there, done that last year. Thought I might have a problem once the screen was out and got a VERY nasty shock. Phoned round for a flat bed pick up at short notice and again after the painting was done. Had a bit of a nightmare with the return journey as with days of notice having pre-booked a flat bed pick up 'they' arrived with the 'hook your wheels over and drag you down the road' type. Had a bit of a stand off discussion about whether that was suitable and they eventually went off to get what I had booked.

Job was finished and all looks beautiful now. Fingers crossed.

Oh and removal and fitting was with RAC in Sheffield but any depot is only as good as the particular staff they employ.
