TajMan 0 Posted December 19, 2003 I had to replace the starter motor on my G60. I ran in to a few problems with the bolts to mount it but now its in and I'm trying to hook the wiring back up. I know I took off two thick wires, the ground of course and the other one was connected to the solenoid on the starter. There is also the little red wire that slides on with a little clip, thats taken care of. My problem is that I see three thick wires that are unhooked right now and I don't know which one is which because I only remember taking off two. The ground is the ground, but there are two more wires. One comes off of the alternator and the other comes off of the posative battery terminal. Which one goes on the starter and where does the other one go?
Henny 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Both the one from the +ve of the battery AND the red wire from the alternator connect to the same place on the starter motor! That's why you don't remember where it came from... :? 8) The earth cable should bolt onto the gearbox and go straight to the battery via a connection onto the bodywork at the battery tray, then there should be the wire to the solenoid (black with a red tracer IIRC) and the 2 red wires which go onto the starter motor on the large threaded bar with a 13mm nut holding them on... 8) Hope this helps... 8)
